Short Autobiographical Sketch
Hello I'm Neal Hobart Wright
My love of photography journey started at the age of 11 when my mother who at one time was a Washington Post News Photographer gave me my first totally manual medium format film camera and taught me the basics of photography. My mom also took me weekly to the Boston Fine Arts Museum and Isabel Stuart Gardner Museums and others to show me painting and drawing art of the worlds most famous painter artists and taught me of their lives. This cultivated a lifelong passion spanning over 60 years of creating unique original photo art to share the beauty of life to inspire and enrich lives through powerful photographic art that captures the essence of our world and it's beauty.
My photographic art skills were augmented by Film Studies at The Orson Wells Film School and extensive self studies. In my high school years I taught photography and darkroom techniques at School Within A School (SWS) and alternative learning program at Brookline High School and was a major contributor of images for the 1974 SWS Yearbook. After high school I continued my photographic techniques studies and engaged in rock music concert photography for local Arts and Entertainment newspapers. Over time I engaged in different areas of photographic work including commercial product photography for local industry companies. Eventually, under contracts I produced Photographic visual content for a series Biomedical Microbiology Teaching programs. Further on for my occupation In Bioscience Biomedical Biopharma industries I was required to travel extensively in U.S, and Canada then overseas to Asia and other destinations and always stayed longer to afford time for my photographic work.
So I 'm Neal Hobart Wright (Neal H. Wright) for authenticity my photographic art work will bear my signature as a handwritten digital or original signature as "N.H. Wright". The present vast majority of my photographic images were created in traditional negative film format cameras that I am gradually converting to digital images. Since approximately 2001 I also began utilizing digital cameras. My artistic photography includes scenic, architecture, aerial, waterscapes, abstracts, montages, romantic compositions, nature photography, floral and botanical and portraits. Earlier works were produced primarily by photo chemical darkroom work in black and white and color. Presently, instead due to space limitations I use a series of photo editing software's some being as old as approximately 2000. Through my first company Amphotech Photography I provided wedding, portrait and social function photography services, and live music concert freelance press photography for local news publications. In the late 1970's I started a photographic business for portrait, weddings, functions photography and continued my creative photography while late 1970s and 1980s I gradually began to exhibit my art photography in art galleries in the greater Boston area Massachusetts while increasingly producing commercial art for clients. Recently, In September 2023 I have started a new photo art gallery website NealWrightPhotography.com featuring very high resolution film and digital camera photo images typically 180 mega-pixel or 80mb file sizes affording they may be printed as large wall murals or smaller.
About my origins: I was born in Washington DC USA in the 1950's and have lived in Arizona, Maryland, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts. The majority of my life I have lived in Massachusetts. It is my hope that my photographic art will become recognized and appreciated while bringing images of the beauty of life and nature and to express creatively for the enjoyment of all to achieve my legacy as an artist. Although, I had a very busy career in medical diagnostic sciences and Bio-Science Bio-Medical Biotech Biopharma and academic research as I also continued to create photo art. Now I can concentrate on my bringing my extensive art work images to the public through the internet and social medias while offering my photo art for sale to brighten the lives of customers.
For years my commercial art ventures subsidized my continual creative art photography. much of which was in medium format and 35mm format film media that has been stored over the decades in a desiccated moisture proof fireproof safe including many film images that were developed but never printed including images from my worldly travels. Presently, I am converting all film images to high resolution digital format and continuing to create new digital photographic art. The big difference now is that old standard chemical darkroom processing is now replaced by much safer digital photo editing. It is that I am rediscovering my love of creative photography and realizing the impact graphic images and visual appreciations it can bring to others.
